The wear or damage of the mining screen after a long-term of operation will lead to materials of all grades mixing together and affect the quality of finished products. Furthermore, improper use of mining screen will accelerate the wear of the mining screen. There are three factors lead to excessive wear and their solutions are listed below.
Poor quality mining screens
If the quality of the mining screen fails to meet relevant standards, it can damage easily in the process of high intensity operation. Especially when heavy stone takes a large part in screening, the mining screen will break or wear easily due to substandard raw materials, high intensive vibration and friction.
Solution: Under the condition of strong impact and extrusion, the surface layer of manganese steel hardens quickly while maintaining great toughness and plasticity of austenite inside. The hardened layer of manganese steel has good wear resistance. The manganese steel mining screens with high elasticity and wear resistance are highly recommended due to its strong and durable structure, long service life and higher screening efficiency.
Insufficient tension of the screen surface
The screen is not properly tensioned in the process of operation. In addition, high amplitude vibration causes the screen to vibrate. Typically, the mining screen will be broken or damaged along the edge of the screen or the shroud strip. Meanwhile, the screen will deform easily due to unevenness of the screen surface arising from insufficient tension. Materials will accumulate at certain area and cause the uneven stress of the screen, thereby resulting in the screen being damaged.
Solution: When installing or replacing the screen, workers shall work together and lay the screen evenly on the screen rack. First, fix the screws on both sides of the screen to adjust the tension of the screen to an appropriate level. The screen shall be tightened evenly without folding. Insert the screws into the screw holes and tighten them one by one.
Excessive or uneven feeding
In the screening process of the linear vibrating screen, the width of the vibrating screen determines its processing capacity, and the length determines its screening effect. In the feeding process of the vibrating screen, excessive feeding exceeding the equipment capacity will lead to the materials on the screen cannot be screened. Uneven feeding will result in materials unevenly distributed and accumulated on the screen, it is easy to cause the uneven stress of the screen and accelerate the screen damage.
Solution: When feeding materials, the material shall be fed uniformly. A buffer hopper shall be installed on the vibrating screen that adopts the feeding method with a strong impact force. The direct impact of the material on the screen will consume the excitation force generated by the vibration source, which is more likely to cause the screen damage and fatigue.
In the operation of the vibrating screen, we shall always be aware of any abnormal noise or vibration. The vibration of the equipment can be controlled by adjusting the excitation force to avoid excessive excitation force damaging the screen or motor and other equipment parts. In addition, we shall also pay attention to the quality and output of the screened materials. If there is any abnormality, we shall stop the machine and check the screen and other components. If the screen is damaged, replace the screen timely.
