Matters Needing Attention in Mining Screen Installation & Uses

As a fine screening device, the vibrating screen is widely used in the process of manufacturing products which involves in sizing, grading and screening. Of which, mining screen is a crucial element to the entire screening system. The selection, proper installation & uses of mining screen are of great importance. Here we would like to share some precautions for mining screen installation and use.

Poor quality mining screens

The height of the material falling from the hopper inlet to the mining screen shall not be greater than 300 mm.
Generally, our mining screens are made of carbon steel that applies to the environment with a pH value of 4 to 9. For environments with strong acid and alkali, stainless steel mining screens are recommended.

The size of mining screen installed shall be appropriate to avoid tension bolt loosening due to the overlength of mining screen and resulting in the secondary vibration between the screen box support bar and the screen. The collision between the two parts may cause regular linear fractures of the mining screen.
- Our mining screens are made of high wear-resistant materials; however, their fatigue resistance is not that strong. Therefore, the proper tension of the screen is the key to ensure the lifespan of the screen in installation and uses.
- For mining screens with shroud edges or bending edges, the outer dimension of the shroud (bending) edge shall be 30–50 mm smaller than the actual distance inside the screen box to avoid the screen loosening due to the overlength of mining screen.
The screen box support bar shall be set reasonably. It shall be parallel to the screen and shall not lower than the screen. Support bars shall be close to the screen without leaving a gap.

Precautions for uses:

The maximum particle size on the screen surface shall not greater than 5 times of the particle size under the screen.
The thickness of the material layer shall not greater than 5 times of the aperture when the screen working in the horizontal vibrating screen.
Check the tension of the screen regularly.
The amplitude and vibration frequency shall be controlled at appropriate levels.
